Simers & Co. Spritfabrik & Destillation was established in 1857 by Einar Simers, and was located in Revierstredet, Christiania
(Oslo). Spirits were supplied by the agricultural distilleries and Simers procured the first rectification apparatus for
producing spirit that was free of any fusel alcohols in Norway.
The spirit supplied from the agricultural distilleries was of variable quality, and a lot of these distilleries used Simers
to have their own spirit cleaned. In addition, Simers’s distiller, Alex Pedersen, produced a range of aquavits and other distilled
spirits such as punch and bitters, for export as well as direct sale to retail cooperatives and licensed premises.
In 1925 the company was bought out by the State Wine Monopoly, which acquired all the assets including properties, prescriptions
and stock.
