Denmark to the top of Linie Award 2007!

The Danish contestant, Michael Munk, impressed the jury and became winner of the Linie Award Trophy in Oslo on 31 October, 2007.

– This is my dream come true. My goal was to win this, and so I did. Cooking my way to the top of Linie Award will give me wonderful opportunities to develop myself as a chef, says Michael Munk (27) from Denmark.

The Linie Award 2007 finals in Oslo saw five Nordic contestants competing for three hectic hours in front of 240 guests. Their common goal was to impress the jury by preparing the evening’s best two-course menu. The first course was finger food based on all Nordic ingredients: Swedish herring roe, Finnish pikeperch, Danish fjord prawns, Icelandic char and Norwegian king crab. The Nordic finger food also had to harmonise with Linie Aquavit as the accompanying beverage. The second course had to be served warm, with Icelandic lamb as the main ingredient.

– Michael performed excellently. He showed impressive skills and creativity. His courses matched perfectly with Linie Aquavit, both as an ingredient and accompanying beverage. In addition to his impressive technique and creativity, he managed to extract the distinct character of Icelandic lamb and all the Nordic ingredients of the finger food, said jury foreman and Norwegian star chef, Eyvind Hellstrøm.
